Inspire Inclusion: Solevo’s Commitment to Gender Equality

In 2024, the theme for International Women’s Day is ‘Inspire Inclusion’, emphasizing the importance of diversity and empowerment in all aspects of society and the crucial role of inclusion in achieving gender equality. At Solevo, fostering gender equality both within the organization and the communities we serve are priorities within our company’s Sustainability Roadmap.

“The theme of this International Women’s Day, Inspire Inclusion, calls for action to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create environments where all women are valued and respected. At Solevo, our commitment to gender equality is not new. It is an integral part of our Sustainability Roadmap (Pillar 1 – Labor & Human Rights and Pillar 4 – Outreach & Communities) and I am proud of the strides we have made in creating a more inclusive organization,” says Adjamois Koua, Head of Sustainability.

Internal Initiatives

Within our company, we are dedicated to increasing the representation of women in our workforce. Currently, our goal is to achieve 35% female representation by 2026, with our current percentage standing at 25%. While we acknowledge the challenges, particularly in traditionally male-dominated departments such as operations and sales, we have implemented a robust gender equality policy. This policy, integral to our sustainable development framework, underscores our unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

Concrete actions include celebrating events like International Women’s Day and Pink October, showcasing the achievements of women within our organization, and promoting work-life balance through teleworking policies. Additionally, we ensure gender diversity in our recruitment process and provide mechanisms for whistleblowing to protect women from misconduct.

External Outreach

Beyond our organizational boundaries, Solevo extends our commitment to gender equality through impactful community initiatives. Notably, in regions like the Sahel, Solevo has provided hygienic pads to address menstrual health issues and supported women-led associations like the GAFREH Artisans in Burkina Faso. These initiatives not only empower women economically but also contribute to their overall well-being and dignity.

In community outreach programs, Solevo ensures equal engagement, recognizing women’s significant role and contributions. Whether it’s raising awareness on product use or supporting local initiatives, women are actively involved, driving positive change in their communities. Solevo’s efforts highlight the importance of inclusivity and collaboration in fostering sustainable development.

Looking Ahead

“At Solevo, our commitment to gender equality extends beyond mere numbers. Yes, we’re dedicated to increasing the number of female employees throughout our offices around the globe but more importantly, we are focused on creating an environment where they not only thrive but also contribute significantly to our organizations, and their own communities, success. We understand the importance of better representation, and it’s our priority to ensure that women are empowered to excel at every level of our organization. This is our goal for today, and the future.” Leandra Fontes, Group HR Director.

Looking ahead, Solevo remains committed to advancing gender equality both within its organization and in the broader community. With ongoing initiatives and a steadfast dedication to diversity, Solevo continues to pave the way for a more inclusive future.
